Some of you may remember the 2022 exhibition It’s Complicated, Is Possibly Artby Elias Wessel, a selection of works that invert the digital space, playing with the seemingly non-corporeal, ephemeral, and magical forces tracking and shaping our experience. Now, Wessel has brought this collection of work to Picture Theory Gallery! This exhibition of It’s Complicated, in collaboration with Natalia Kiës, features 11 photographic installations and a sound installation, and is on view until September 1st.

Reflecting on the Spring 2024 Season
With the summer in full swing, we want to take a moment to look back at our rich spring season! It brought our 1014 community together in many new ways. From our four-day music festival "Opera & Democracy" to "The Sphere" at Liberty Park, we enjoyed a myriad of art-related events, culminating in a discussion about the complexities and provocations of Public Art both in Germany and the United States.

Amidst an era of increasing polarization, the Walter de Gruyter Foundation and 1014 launch a new transatlantic event series to take a closer look at some of the controversial terms that deepen the divides in our societies. With eight episodes over two years, Humanities for Humans strives to generate a better understanding of what the humanities are and what role they can play in today’s complex world.
