1014 Podcast "re:transatlantic" - What connects us today?
1014 is excited to introduce its new podcast re:transatlantic, a reflection on the transatlantic partnership today.
Europe and the United States share not only a recent history and common values, but also close societal, political and economic interests. The transatlantic relations are shaped by a multitude of personal, professional and cultural contacts and a long tradition of exchange programs in all sectors. As in every partnership, views may differ occasionally and change over time. This makes it even more crucial to foster intensive transatlantic debate, and to engage in an open dialogue.
In this podcast series, the audience will explore how the transatlantic relationship might have changed in the eyes of young professionals and what that means for our common future in a globalized world. Listen to personal and professional experiences from both sides of the Atlantic: What was the motivation for young professionals to make that step abroad? What are the underlying prejudices and challenges they had to face? How important is the transatlantic partnership now in their everyday work-life?
The first episode gives a transatlantic perspective on students’ life and education both in the United States and in Germany: Sylvia from Berlin speaks about her research stay in New York, Lucian from the South of Germany shares his experiences in New Orleans, and Alyssa is a US citizen currently working at a German University.
The second episode discusses experiences among artists and cultural practitioners on both sides of the Atlantic: Thomas is an opera singer from Vienna who performed at the Met in NYC, Judith is a German film producer who worked for international Hollywood productions, Anton is an Ukrainian artist who lived both in the US and Germany and painter Michelle is a born Berliner with an American passport.
